Frequently Asked Questions
Q. Once I go to a chiropractor, will I always have to go?
A. Not at all. Once patients experience how great they feel while under chiropractic care, they often want to continue care to maintain corrections made and continue to feel good. Like eating well and going to the gym, you can obtain the physique you want. If achieved, would you go back to being a couch potato and eating junk food?
Q. Does a chiropractic adjustment hurt?
A. Not at all with the gentle techniques we offer. Especially the crackless adjusting technique KST. Sometimes when people are in pain, any movement or touch can be a bit uncomfortable, but with care, that often eases up quickly.
Q. Can chiropractic cure everything?
A. Although many of our happy clients tell everyone that we cured them from this or from that, the truth is chiropractic cures nothing, but eliminates spinal, cranial, and extremity misalignments. By delivering adjustments, and making sure the brain can properly communicate with your body, it is the body’s inborn wisdom that makes it possible to heal itself. For conditions that cannot be helped with chiropractic we have a great working relationship with several local physicians of all specialties whom we can refer you to.
Q. Why would I have my newborn or young child adjusted?
A. Just because they are smaller, doesn’t mean they are any less important. The birth process can be traumatic. So can sleeping in funny positions, falling when learning to stand or walk, rough housing and sports. Those traumas can knock little bones out of place, setting the stage for problems and pains later in life. It’s always easier to handle early on, rather than waiting for them to grow up crooked.
Q. Can chiropractic help with colic and how?
A. By making sure there is no irritation to spinal bones and nerves, many digestive issues improve in kids as well as adults.
Q. Does insurance cover chiropractic visits?
A. It depends on the individual plan, but in many cases yes. If you do not have insurance coverage or a plan that severely limits the amount or type of care you need, we have DPMO plans that allow us to discount our fees legally so everyone can afford them.
Q. How much does it cost?
A. Costs can vary based on the amount and type of care needed to fix your problem, or maintain your spine. We don’t like I turn people away for financial issues and have several ways to work with you to help you afford the care you need.
Q. Do I need a referral from my physician?
A. No. Only in the case of workers compensation. Otherwise, we do not need referrals or permission to see patients.
Q. Do you work with medical doctors?
A. Of course. We understand there is a time and a place for all types of physicians. We co-manage clients with medical doctors to ensure the best and thorough care available.
Q. Will I get adjusted on my first visit?
A. That will depend on your particular situation. For safety sake, diagnostic studies may be needed to ensure your safety and rule out other serious issues prior to receiving your first adjustment.
Q. Will you suggest exercises or other things I can do?
A. We have a full physical therapy suite in house for patients to stretch, strengthen, and stabilize your spine and joints. Many can be done at home as well. We can advise you on what types of workouts you can do on your own to improve function and achieve your goals. We also have great info on how to sit at a computer, sleeping positions, and other regular activities that can speed up the healing process.
Q. Can someone who has had back surgery see a chiropractor?
A. Yes. Often after neck or back surgery, clients come in to make sure everything is working well above and below the surgical areas. With our pinpoint techniques, we can help without disturbing areas nearby. Unfortunately, not all surgeries are successful, so we can help manage pains weeks, months, or years after surgery.
